South Africa’s Grant Goldschmidt and Freedom Chiya are the first team to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics!
YAY! YAY! YAY!
Grant and Freedom achieved their Olympic dreams at the recently concluded CAVB Beach Volleyball Continental Cup in Flic en Flac Beach, Mauritius. This is a great and historic achievement for South Africa knowing that they won the crown against 38 other teams in their continent.
“It is a great moment for me and my team to be a gold medallist and to represent Africa at the Olympic Games. In the first game we played against them it was very hot and very difficult to play but in the golden set it was much easier and cooler. My team mate and I concentrated on every point.” said Chiya.

In case you didn’t know, the last and only time a South African beach volleyball team competed at the Olympics was at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
Grant & Freedom can now REPRESENT SA once again!
We hope that this victory will give beach volleyball exposure in their country and of course inspire the African continent.
Congrats BBs!
