After missing the 2008 Olympics, Korea is back!
Korea will definitely rely on their star player, Kim Yeon Koung, as they face the world’s top teams during the Preliminary Round. Kim and her hardworking squad fight for one of the top 4 spots against Brazil, USA, China, Serbia and Turkey to qualify for the Quarterfinals.
It won’t be EASY but Korea can do wonders during the competition.
The following 12 players will represent Korea at the 2012 London Olympics:
Setters: Kim Sa-Nee, Lee Sook-Ja
Opposite Hitters: Hwang Youn-Joo, Kim Hee-Jin
Outside Hitters: Kim Yeon-Koung, Han Song-Yi, Han Yoo-Mi, Lim Hyo-Sook
Middle Blockers: Yang Hyo-Jin, Jung Dae-Young, Ha Joon-Eem
Libero: Kim Hae-Ran
Yesterday, the team left Korea to head to London for the Games and here are some pics.
In case you didn’t know, the only time that Korea won an Olympic medal in volleyball was at the 1976 Montreal Olympics with a bronze medal. Since then, Korea has failed to finish in the Top 4. Maybe Kim Yeon Koung can change Korea’s Olympic fate this time around? Let’s wait and see!
