Comprehensive Player Statistics By Jeremy Brahm
Quick hits from the statistics
Russia’s Nikolay Pavlov was the player who would have won the most sets by himself on the court with 16.81 set wins. Russia would have only won 22 sets, so he was the biggest factor for them making the Finals.
Bulgaria’s Tsvetan Sokolov was second with 10.25 set wins (of Bulgaria’s 22.56 set wins) and Iran’s Seyed Mohammad Mousavi Eraghi was third with 9.90 set wins (of Iran’s 18.15 set wins)
On a positive-negative points per set basis, Italy’s Ivan Zaystev scored 3.22 points per set. Pavlov was second at 3.11 points per set and Germany’s Denis Kaliberda was third with 2.82 points per set (Gavin Schmitt did not play in enough for Canada in my mind to qualify).
Final Team Statistics
Canada was the best hitting team ((kills-errors)/total attempts) at 38.2%
Canada also lead in blocks per set at 3.53
Iran was the best serving team ((aces-errors)/set) by only losing 1.88 points a set
Poland was the best digging team with 14.19 digs (digs and dig receptions) per set
Canada was the leading setting team ((kills-errors)/set attempts) with 8.75 assists per set
France was the best serve receiving team with 65.56% of these plays being excellents
Canada averaged 9.43 offensive points (positive points-negative points) per set
Brazil were the best defensive team only allowing 3.95 points (positive-negative points) per set
Teams averaged 6.01 points per set (positive points-negative points)
Canada had the best offense to defense differential at 5.05 points per set, hence a reason why they are in the Finals.
