As far as we know, this is the first time that the Volleyball Kings Of Asia defeated the European Giants since their rise in men’s volleyball.

FIVB World League June 13th Post Match Conference:

Kazan, Russia, 13 June, 2015 – Iranian coach Kovac Slobodan said his side put pressure on the Russians, forcing them into mistakes, after their 3-1 win (20-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-23) in the FIVB World League on Saturday.

“We changed the game after the second set and started to win,” said Slobodan. “We tried to do maximum and served well. The main point is that Russia was forced to make mistakes.”

Iranian captain Mir Saeid Marouflakrani added: “It was a difficult match for both teams. Russia started really well. It is important we came back to the game in the second set and Russia made a lot of mistakes. I hope tomorrow the result will be the same.”

FIVB World League June 14th Post Match Conference:

Kazan, Russia, 14 June, 2015 – Iran captain Mir Saeid Marouf said his side had made history with their 3-0 win over Russia on Sunday.

“We have two victories over Russia and this is the first time in history we’ve done this,” said Marouf. “I’m so happy tonight. We played even better than yesterday. We were stronger in reception and in service. We can do something more.”

Iran coach Kovan Slobodan added: “We have a fantastic result tonight. Nobody believed we could outplay Russia.”

In case you didn’t know, Russia has lost 6 consecutive matches while Iran is now 2-4 in the ongoing World League.
