Canada won against the Italians yesterday and qualified for the Quarterfinals. Gavin Schmitt, Gord Perrin and Canada will play against Russia ala the defending Olympic Champions tomorrow.
After the match against Italy, Canada’s top scorer Gavin spoke words of determination.
“We are proving that we didn’t come here as tourists.
We are here to play and to battle for one of the medals. This is one of the highlights of my career and we want to continue on this roll the longer we can.
It was a do-or-die match, win or go home.
Coach Hoag also complimented Gavin’s 25 point performance against Italy.
“Gavin Schmitt played great today and In have to credit our defence at the net and also in the back row.”
Canada’s victory put Brazil and France on the edge because only one of them would advance to the next round.
