LIVING LEGEND IN VOLLEYBALL!
After playing 5 Olympics and about to make his 6th consecutive Olympic appearance in Rio next month, Russia’s Sergey Tetyukhin will retire from the National Team after the Olympics.
He also plans to finish his 1 year contract with Belogorie for the 2016-2017 season.
“I promise that we will fight for our country, for the flag, for honor and for our good name.” -Sergey on Russia in Rio.

When he’s done with volleyball, the 2012 Olympic gold medalist will then pursue other things – most likely in the Russian volleyball and sports industry.
Aside from being the team captain, the 40 year old has been named as Russia’s flag bearer during the opening ceremony.
In case you didn’t know, Sergey is THE ONLY volleyball player in the world (male of female) with four Olympic medals who has all three types of those awards:
2000 Sydney: Silver
2004 Athens: Bronze
2008 Beijing: Bronze
2012 London: Gold
Him (1996-2016) and former player Yevgeniya Artamonova (1992-2012) are THE ONLY 2 volleyball players in the world who have competed consecutively in 6 Olympics.
