We hope so.
Sadly, Megan Hodge-Easy is nursing and injury according to this article by nbcolympics.com:
“Easy’s spot on the Olympic roster is far from guaranteed. She has recently dealt with physical issues that limit her in practice and drills and have dampened her chances of making the trip to Rio. Kiraly must soon narrow his roster to 12 as the top-ranked Americans again chase their first ever Olympic gold medal in August.”
At this point, we have a feeling Megan will NOT be part of the Olympic Team. She has NOT played in the ongoing FIVB Grand Prix at all. The last time Megan played in a major international event was at the World Cup last year and was not part of the starting 6.
Hope she recovers in time for Rio and convince Coach Karch to take her. The world knows she is an explosive hitter.
We could be wrong but our USA Olympic Roster prediction would be:
Outside Hitters: Larson, Hill, Robinson
Middle Blockers: Akinradewo, Adams, Dietzen
Setters: Glass, Lloyd
Opposite Hitters: Lowe, Murphy, Fawcett
Libero: Banwarth
USA Volleyball was supposed to announce the roster today but it looks fans would have to wait until next week after the Grand Prix Finals.
“All World Grand Prix Final 6 teams except host Thailand have qualified for the Olympic Games, which puts even more emphasis on the week in Bangkok to help evaluate tactics and finalize rosters. The U.S. deadline to name its Olympic roster is July 17. U.S. Women’s National Team Head Coach Karch Kiraly and his staff could name the 12-player roster any time before that date, but it will likely not come out on the originally planned date June 27.”
Thoughts?
