Italy and Bulgaria are known for hosting successful international volleyball events so we are not surprised that the FIVB has granted these 2 countries to co-host the 2018 FIVB Men’s World Championship.
Italy and Bulgaria are set to write history when they co-host the 19th edition of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship in the year 2018, as this will happen for the first time in the history of the tournament.
The partnership of the two countries will preserve the prestige of the International Volleyball Federation’s top competition for men’s national teams, and will bolster the drive to set record-breaking feats just like its predecessor, the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship Poland 2014.
The announcement drew excitement from the co-hosts and attention from the volleyball community as they embark on another historic journey that will put the sport into another high-profile gathering.
“Once again, the FIVB has recognised the organisational skills of the Italian Volleyball Federation, highlighted the recent events organised by the federation.” – FIPAV President Dr. Carlo Magri
“We organised a very successful European Championship and now working together with the Italians, we will organise an even better World Championship.” – Bulgarian Volleyball Federation President Dancho Lazarov
Italy and Bulgaria have hosted the Men’s World Championships. Italy hosted the event in 1978 and in 2010, and then hosted the women’s event in 2014. Bulgaria last hosted the men’s and women’s events in 1970.
