This is a tough one…
Puerto Rican star, Hector “Picky” Soto, can’t make up his mind if he’d go abroad again next season or just play at home.
After playing in the Korean League this past season, the Best Scorer from the 2006 World Championship and 2007 World Cup received an $$$ offer he can’t refused from a club team in the Middle East.
Dang! That sounds far.
“Now I have a dilemma again. There are many friends who are constantly filling my head with stuff, telling me to go after the money, so once again I am thinking about going or staying.” said Soto after Puerto Rico’s World League match against Brazil last Saturday.
Tell your friends they can go. LOL! Just Kidding!
If the field is greener and knowing how tough life is right now because of this global recession, we say take it or think about it over and over again.
Picky doesn’t want to be away from his family again. In this FIVB article, Soto admitted that while in Korea he would just stay in his room when not training with his team. “The only thing I did was practice and sleep and it got to a point when I was afraid of suffering from depression. But it was really the boredom, and the best you can do for that is to close your eyes and sleep.” according to Soto.
Honestly, family over volleyball bb – in our opinion.
Your daughter is so young and it’d be great to have you around her while she’s growing up. Plus, you’ve played abroad for 10 seasons and maybe it’s time to play in the Puerto Rican League. The dinero might not be that great but at least you’re playing at home and your family gets to see you 24/7.
Again, this is just our opinion but we we know you will make the best decision.
Side Dish: Soto graduated from University of Indiana at Fort Wayne, USA.
