Congratulations to these 2!

They represent their country in the elite world of volleyball!

From cev.lu:

Jan Stokr and Helena Havelkova were awarded as the best Czech Volleyball players of the 2012/2013 season in a special gala ceremony held on Saturday night at the City Theatre in Brno.

Stokr completed another memorable season with the likes of TRENTINO Diatec by winning the FIVB Club World Championship in Doha, Qatar, this past October as well as Italy’s national league only one week ago at the end of a dramatic Championship series with Copra Elior PIACENZA. Stokr’s transfer to Russia’s Dinamo KRASNODAR was announced only some hours after the last match of Italy’s Serie A1 for this year.

“I want to thank my family for all their support as well as my former team TRENTINO Diatec. I have spent three wonderful years there” Stokr said upon receiving his distinction.

The captain of the Czech women’s national team Helena Havelkova was awarded as female player of the year. She had anchored the Czechs on their way to win the 2012 CEV Volleyball European League this past July in Karlovy Vary thereby qualifying – for the first time in history – for the FIVB World Grand Prix. She spent the past season in Russia and with her team Dinamo KRASNODAR she won the 2013 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup, the very first European trophy in the history of the club.

As she received the honor, Havelkova did especially thank her mentor in the national team, Italian-born Carlo Parisi, who coached her in Italy while she played there for the likes of Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO.

FIVB Referee Milan Labasta who this year was among the four referees nominated for the final four of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Men was named “Czech referee of the year”.

In case you didn’t know, Jan Stokr has left his Italian club team Trentino and will play for Dinamo Krasnodar in Russia next season. As for Helena, the athlete has not revealed her plans but we’ve been informed she will most likely play in Poland since her boyfriend Facundo Conte (ARG) is playing there.
