Crook/s Stole From World League Players

SECURITY ALERT!

SECURITY ALERT!

SECURITY ALERT!

Who could’ve done this? Could it be a random person? Hotel staff? Or maybe that housekeeper with itchy hands?

Or this?

On a serious note…

Pool F participants Cuba, Tunisia, Turkey and host Mexico are currently in Mexico City for the Intercontinental Round of the ongoing 2014 FIVB World League.

Sadly, a crook or crooks found the perfect time to steal money and personal items from the players and staff at the host hotel Fiesta Inn Hotel while everyone was away.

Source familiar with the incident tells Volleywood:

“Players are really upset that this happened. The money lost was about 2500 euros. Aside from the stolen cash, some of the players and staff also got food poisoning. A media representative from Turkey also lost his camera after the Turkey-Cuba match. It’s been a forgettable stay so far and hope management will increase hotel security.”

We went on tripadvisor.com to find more info about the hotel and this review is by far the scariest we’ve read:

“My friend disappeared he is a U.S Citizen Jessie Medina. The FBI as well as the U.S Embassy were notified for he was missing.

My colleagues and I confronted the Manager a young man in his late 20s as well as the security manager a man in his early 30s. They both contradicted their versions with that of the receptionist. Stating that he had done an express checkout. We asked them to go to his room for he did not answer. They did not reply. We interviewed taxi drivers as well as the cleaning ladies.

The Hotel is dangerous and we are very certain the employees are involved in our Friends disappearance on February 11, 2011.

Stayed February 2011, traveled on business.”

Scary huh?

It’s not all bad reviews though. Some guests have had good things to say about this 3 star hotel.

We hope it doesn’t happen again.

Fingers crossed.

Despite the forgettable incident, here are some FIVB IMAGES from Pool F:
