The Season Is Over For USA’s Megan Courtney

SADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!

Her professional season in Turkey has NOT officially started but American player Megan Courtney is already back in the USA to seek treatment. The outside hitter/libero posted on her IG a few days ago that she injured her ACL for the second time.

My heart is hurt but never broken. I've done it once. I can do it again. Yesterday I suffered my second ACL injury of my career only two days into my journey in Turkey. I am heading home tomorrow to start the recovery process. Even though i was just getting to know all my teammates and great coaching staff at @canakkalebelediyespor I want to thank them all for the amazing accommodations and support they have given me in the last 24 hrs. Make no mistake that I will have this face (see picture above) throughout the entire process. Determined. Focused. Ready to take on any and every challenge that comes my way! Not the time I wanted to say this but see you soon 🇺🇸

Some of the well wishers in the comment section of her post are teammates Jordan Larson and Kim Hill.

As of press time, no word yet if the 2017 Grand Champions Cup bronze medalist will need or will have surgery. The last post that we saw of Megan was an Instagram video story of her walking and working with a physical therapist (?). UPDATE: We’ve reached out to Megan and she confirmed that she will have surgery.

In case you didn’t know, setter Carli Lloyd is also recovering from an injury. She will NOT play with Fenerbahce this season. Thailand’s Nootsara Tomkom is currently in talks to take her spot.
