After losing the final match of the Brazilian Superliga, Praia’s star player Alix Klineman posted this on her Instagram.
Waking up today, the loss still stings. Damn I really wanted this. But that being said, there is so much to feel good about. Our team worked our asses off this year, surpassed everyone’s expectations, fought so hard for every win, and continued to fight until the very last point yesterday when the final finished at 28-26. We played on a neutral court in neither team’s city and the fans still managed to almost completely fill up the gym that held 12,000 people. Even more amazingly, after we lost, to hear our fans chanting “Praia! Praia! Praia!” was a pretty incredible moment and I’ll never forget it. As I like to say, #onlyinbrazil . Only in Brazil is volleyball such an important sport, and only in Brazil do players receive this kind of support from the fans. I’m so proud of everything we accomplished, I’m proud of the way we represented Uberlandia, and in the end, we really laid it all out there. Thank you to everyone who made this year so special for me.
Hoje quando acordei, ainda pude sentir o peso da derrota. Queria MUITO essa vitória. Mas por outro lado, não posso deixar de reconhecer as coisas boas. Nosso time se esforçou muito este ano, superou todas as expectativas, lutou por cada vitória, e continuou lutando até o último ponto da final de ontem, quando o placar fechou em 28-26. Jogamos numa quadra neutra, em outra cidade, longe de casa. Mesmo com esta distância, 12mil fãs de vôlei lotaram o ginásio. Ainda mais impressionante, foi que depois que perdemos, ainda ouvimos nossa torcida gritando “Praia! Praia! Praia!”. Um momento incrível e sem dúvida inesquecível. Como eu diria #onlyinbrazil . Somente no Brasil o Vôlei é um esporte de tanto peso, e é somente no Brasil que nós atletas recebemos esse carinho e suporte dos fãs. Tenho muito orgulho de tudo que conquistamos, e tenho orgulho de como representamos Uberlândia. No final das contas, nós demos nosso melhor. Obrigado a todos por fazer este ano tão especial para mim. ❤️
