We got the answer$ for you!
With a million dollar salary, no wonder most of Brazil’s superstars plan on staying in their country instead of playing overseas, like in Europe. Seriously, we’re a bit shocked when we found out on how much they get paid to play for just one season.
We actually thought Murilo and Giba were the top paid athletes in the Brazilian League but we are WRONG!
Here you go…
#1: Dante. After making almost US$1 Million in Russia last season, one of the world’s best spikers and 2004 Olympic gold medalist returned to Brazil after receiving an offer from club team RJX he could not refuse. The price tag: R$2 Million (Brazilian Real) which is about US$1.1 Million.
#2: Giba. Brazil’s most popular player in the last decade still makes a lot of moolah with R$1.5 Million (US$830,000+) for 1 season with club team Sky/Cimed. The MVP of the 2004 Olympics started playing for SKY/ Cimed 3 years ago.
#3: Ricardo. The highest paid setter in the Brazilian League! Former star setter of the Brazilian squad is still milking it! Ricardo is reportedly making R$1M (US$553,000+) per season with Volei Futuro. Ricardo is in his second season (and maybe his final season) with Futuro.
#4: Bruno. Coach Rezende’s son banks R$850,000 (US$470,000+) for one season with SKY/Cimed.
#5: Rodrigao. Since he’s one of the most experienced middle blockers in the Superliga, we think he deserves making R$800,000 (US$442,000+) from SESI.
#6: Marlon. For just 1 season with RJX, the “other setter” of the Brazilian Team makes R$730,000 (US$400,000+).
#7. Murilo. The Brazilian we thought was the highest paid only makes R$730,000 (US$387,000+) from playing for 1 season with SESI.
#8. Vissoto. He got paid R$630,000 (US$348,000+) for the 2010/2011 season but his club team Volei Futuro paid for his housing + utilities, food and transportation on top of his salary. WoW! We guess he wanted to make more so he left Brazil and currently plays in the Italian League for the 2011/2012 season.
#9. Eder. Who is he? He’s not the most popular of all in the list but he’s actually a middle blocker who has been training with the National Team and has competed with Brazil’s Team B. He has lots of potential. Anyways, Eder makes about R$550,000 (US$304,000+) for 1 season with Cimed.
#10. Gustavo. One of our favorite Brazilian players receives R$550,000 (US$304,000+) from SKY/ Cimed.
Bubbling out of the Top Tean are Sidao who makes R$540,000 (US$299,000+) for 1 season with SESI, no doubt the good looking middle blocker can treat his girlfriend Dani Lins to fancy places and fancy gifts. Hahaha! Sidao’s teammate, Wallace, receives about R$250,000 (US$138,000+).
It’s great to know that these players make enough or make more playing for the sport they love.
On the other hand, Lloy Ball and Ivan Miljkovic are reportedly the world’s top paid volleyball athletes. They make about US$2 Million or more per season.
THOUGHTS?
THOUGHTS?
THOUGHTS?
Can some of them take us shopping? LoL!
