Shame on (some of) them!
In case you didn’t know, Sokolova, Logan, Kim YK, Naz, Eda and Team Fenerbahce played against Rabita Baku in Azerbaijan earlier today for the Playoffs 8 of the 2011/2012 edition of the prestigious Champions League. Turkey’s Yellow Angels dominated the match 3-0 (25-13/ 26-24/ 25-19) with Korea’s Kim YK scoring 19 pts to end up as the top scorer of the match.
But here’s what happened during and after the handshake…
From what we see, fans were throwing rolls and rolls of toilet paper towards Fenerbahce. Some of them also threw unknown solid objects. Russian striker Lioubov Sokolova eventually got hit on the arm and received care immediately.
Rabita’s Kim Glass could not hold her emotions about their fans and tweeted this:
I’m really disappointed the way our fans handled the loss- the Loss is bad 4 all of us. BuT NEVER a reason to throw things at other teams!
You’re so right Kimmie!
Fenerbahce players have also tweeted these:
Duygu Bal: @duygubal Kufurleri ve sahaya firlatilan yabanci maddelerle kendilerini rezil eden Baku taraftarini takim olarak kiniyoruz!!basi sisen arkadasimiz iyi. (We, as a team, condemn those Baku fans who swore at us and threw dangerous objects at us. our friend whose head was swollen is fine.)
Sari Melekler: @Sari_Melekler yaralanan kimse yok sadece sahaya yabanci maddeler attilar o sirada bizlere geldi. Merak edilecek bir sey yok. (They threw some objects into the court and we were hit by some of them. luckily, none of us is hurt.)
We hope this won’t happen again. Fans must learn how to respect other team. Must learn how to accept defeat.
What’s next? Rabita will fly to Turkey in their second match and we hope Fenerbahce Fans will
