Noooooooooooooo!
It’s only the start of the professional season and some players are already on our Injured List. At first it was Bulgaria’s Ananiev, then Polish star Bartosz Kurek, followed by Sean Rooney and now it’s the one and only Clay Stanley?
Clay signed a contract to play for Russian club team, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk, this coming season. Last October 5th, the CEO of his club team was at a press conference and revealed Stanley’s injury:
“The situation was not straightforward. Stanley made an unscheduled operation.
It was a surprise for us. He will be out for an indefinite period. His recovery term depends on the rehabilitation, especially player at his age. It is unknown how he can pick up his form. So we are very grateful to our agents who discovered Marcus Nilson (Sweden) to replace Stanley.
We have signed a contract with him and will remain on the team as long as we need him. He can even stay after the New Year. Marcus knows about it and it’s all in his hands. And he has a good chance to stay with us. Playing in Belgorod gave a lot to the coaching staff to think about. We have nothing to hide, we will be stronger when he will play.”
Nooooooooooo! Hope the injury is not serious.
We’re glad Lokomotiv found a good replacement for Clay but we’re very concerned with the MVP of the 2008 Olympics. Late last year, he was also injured which forced him to leave his Russian club team, Ural Ufa. He had surgery and went through a long rehab process to recover and compete just in time for the NORCECA Olympic Qualification. Clay and Team USA won the tournament to qualify for The Games in London.
According to our source, Clay got injured in London but still played up to the Quarterfinal Match versus Italy. We could be wrong but we have a feeling that the injury totally affected Clay’s performance versus the Italians.
Anyways, we wish Clay a quick recovery!
Hang in there Claymate! We can’t wait to see you pound those balls again!
