Gavin Schmitt Wins League Crown & 4 Awards

The good news is that Gavin Schmitt and Turkish club team Arkas Spor won the 2014/2015 Turkish League against top favorite Halkbank Ankara (Osmany Juantorena, Michal Kubiak & Tsvetan Sokolov).

To go with the championship crown, Gavin was also awarded as the Most Valuable Player, Best Server, Best Scorer and Best Spiker.

Now comes the bad news…

Volleyball fans in Turkey won’t get to see him anymore because the Canadian opposite hitter is not renewing his contract for next season. He has decided to spread his wings somewhere else and the new destination is Brazil.

Gavin will play for Taubate together with Brazilian national team players Felipe Fonteles and Raphael Oliveira.

Season has come to an end and super happy to have been able to celebrate a big win with these two fellow Canadians and members of the Canadian national team. Now time to pack up and head to Canada and onto the next and new adventure. @gordperrin
