Paul Carroll, Max Gunthor and Team Generali Haching won the German National Cup for the 3rd time in a row in an epic match against VfB Friedrichshafen.
More than 9,600 fans packed the Gerry Webber Stadium in Halle, Germany to witness one of the most anticipated volleyball events in the nation! It wasn’t an easy match at all for both teams. Generali dominated the first 2 sets while VfB bounced back and won sets 3 and 4 behind Canadian Freddie Winters (20 pts) and Oliver Venno. Set 5 was heavily contested! VfB has 2 match points but eventually lost the match (Set 5: 18-20) behind Paul Carroll’s offensive prowess, best scorer of the match with 23 points.
With a very energetic crowd, Carroll acknowledged their presence by saying “I have never experienced something like this.”

Both teams are expected to face each other later this season to fight for the German League crown. We bet it’s going to be another great match!
In case you didn’t know, both teams competed in the prestigious Champions League but failed to clinch a spot in the Playoff of 6.
