Correction: Elitsa was in Bulgaria when her father passed away. Her teammates attended the funeral. Elitsa stayed for a few days to be with her family and missed 2 friendly matches hosted by Serbia.
No wonder she was wearing a black ribbon during the First Round of the Grand Prix last week…
Bulgarian outside hitter is still grieving after the sudden death of her father last July 24th. He died of a heart attack in the Bulgarian city of Dupnitsa while Elitsa was in Serbia to participate in some friendly matches versus the home team.
The 23 year old flew back to her country to be with her loved ones.
Less than a week after, Elitsa rejoined her team to fly and compete in Macau for the Grand Prix.
She’s such a strong woman.
Our condolences to her and to her family for their loss.
We also wish Elitsa and Bulgaria the best in the Grand Prix.
