Ace (Volleywood Founder) says…
“I have personally met Cristian Savani twice within the last 4 years, ie 2010 World Champs and 2013 European Champs, and he was very accommodating with my request for a pic.
As a matter of fact, he was and still one of the nicest players I have ever met. Knowing he is a world class player with a superstar status in Volleywood and in the Volleyball World, he was very down to earth and very approachable the times we met.
I was really surprised when I received complaints that he ignored his fans who waited for hours to take pics with him. I don’t think he was in the mood to meet and greet his supporters because his team just LOST the gold medal match. He was disappointed and he found it possibly hard to play nice & be all smiling for pics when he wasn’t feeling it.
Savani was just being real and he was just being human. He’d rather show his disappointment than to put a fake smile out there which I think he is not good at as a professional athlete. Some athletes, like Savani, take defeats personally. It makes them human.
I don’t think he meant to ignore them at all. I also think he was overwhelmed with the attention.
To prove that he didn’t ignore his fans at all the entire time he was in the Philippines, check out the proofs below:
I have to make this clear that Cristian didn’t pay me to write this. I just felt I had to somewhat defend this amazing athlete who has thousands of supporters all over the world.
I hope this post will help us all understand that sometimes athletes have “bad days”.
Thank you.”

Below is the VIDEO of Cristian Savani exiting the arena while his fans scream his for attention.
He obviously looks disappointed and perhaps overwhelmed.
What do you think?

We’ve received numerous complaints reports that Savani ignored/ avoided some fans on the last day of the Asian Club Championship in Manila, Philippines with his club team, Al-Rayaan, who finished second.
Even though his team lost, Al-Rayyan has been granted a spot at the World Club Championship next month in Brazil.
A not-so-happy-camper tells Volleywood:
“Some of us waited for more than an hour to take pics with Cristian Savani but instead he tried to avoid us. He pretty much ignored our presence. Cristian only took pics with 2 lucky fans out of almost a hundred who waited for him.”
The fan also told us that Cristian seemed distant when dealing with his supporters since the tournament started.
“He seemed overwhelmed with our presence. It kind of felt like he did NOT want us around him and that all he wanted to do was play the match and then leave right after.”
He concludes…
“All we wanted was a pic with him because it’s rare for my country (Philippines) to meet a world class player like Savani. He’s a big star in the volleyball world so it was an opportunity for us to meet him. Sadly, he left us with a bitter taste in our mouth.”
Again, we were not there so it’s kind of hard for us to validate what happened between Savani and his Filipino fans.
Possible Reasons On Savani’s Attitude:
1. Cristian and his team lost. It’s hard to expect a “happy” Savani to be with his fans knowing that he just lost a match, ie the gold medal match. He might have needed more time to accept the loss and then get over it.
2. Maybe he was somewhat overwhelmed with the attention.
3. Cristian could be physically exhausted knowing that he joined his club team right after he concluded his season in the Chinese League. Exhaustion could be one of the many reasons why he let his fans down.
Any Thoughts?
