With so many talented players under his wings, we can’t imagine the stress he goes through when choosing the BEST 14 players to make the team.
In a recent article released by the FIVB, Coach Stephane Antiga reveals the most difficult part of his job.
“There are many difficult moments such as losses and injuries. However, the most difficult is the selection of players. I have to choose 14 players from a number of talented players. Fortunately, volleyball players choose to be motivated even when they don’t get chosen to play in the team. They work much harder to earn a place in the squad.”
In the said article, he also shares his thoughts on the volleyball culture in Poland.
“In Poland, I admit that the fans and the journalists are knowledgeable about the job of the coach. They are observant and curious. I came to realise that I have a big responsibility in this team. Most of the time, the coach will be blamed when we fail to win, which is not always right. Nevertheless, I accept full responsibility. For me, the most important thing is the satisfaction I get from working with the team – that we are getting better and that we win matches.”
And Poland’s Road To Rio…
“We dream of playing at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Every training, every match we play is our fight to make it to the Olympic Games. Although we lost that opportunity in Berlin, we managed to still get an opportunity to fight for our dreams. It was a huge relief for us and we always remember that such failures are valuable experiences that make us stronger.”
