It looks like Italian player Matte Martino has a penchant for committing to a team during the professional season and then eventually ends up leaving that team.
The so-called Bad Boy Of Italian Volleyball has just parted ways with his Russian club team and he is on a hunt for a new squad. Will someone take the risk of hiring him? Well, we hope so.
But with these words from Plamen Konstantinov, the head coach of his former club teamNizhny Novgorod, it’s going to be TOUGHER for the 27 year old.
“Foreign players should be better than domestic players.
They should be an additional quality to the roster. But, I did not see much difference between Martino and the others. He did not show me that he was better than the domestic players on the team. In some aspects, he is even worse.
Also, if we extended the contract with Martino we would be obligated to increase his wages. Considering that we are in not so shiny financial situation ,that would be too much for the club.
So we decided to part ways with him.”
Looking at his resume, he really can’t stick to one club team for more than one season. He played for Casa Modena in Italy (2011-2012), Jastrzębski Węgiel in Poland (2012-2013), Lube Banca Macerata in Italy (2013-2014) and he was supposed to play for Montpellier UC in France for the 2014-2015 season but something went wrong so he moved to Russia.
In case he can’t find a team, he can always try to audition for Magic Mike 2 knowing that he loves to dance shirtless.
LOL!
Before we forget, he is also a beach volleyball player during the beach season.
