Russia will come in full force at the upcoming European Olympic Qualification next week in Ankara, Turkey!
But before that, Sokolova, Gamova, Koshe and the rest of their teammates need to tune up their game at a volleyball camp in Novogorsk, Russia and also scheduled a friendly match versus Croatia.
Here’s the 17-player roster which will be cut down to 12 for the EOQT:
Middle Blockers:
Maria Borisenko
Yulia Merkulova
Regina Moroz
Maria Perepelkina
Hitters:
Ekaterina Gamova
Natalia Goncharova
Tatiana Kosheleva
Lesya Makhno
Lyubov Sokolova,
Yana Shcherban
Evgeniya Artamonova Estes
Setters:
Marina Akulova
Anna Matienko
Evgeniya Startseva
Liberos:
Svetlana Kryuchkova,
Victoria Kuzyakina
Ekaterina Ulanova
In case you’re wondering why Yulia Morozova, Best Blocker at the 2011 World Grand Prix, is not on the team, apparently she has a serious injury which requires surgery and a recovery of 3 months. Bottom line is she’s going to miss the Olympics – if Russia qualifies.
Sad.
