Serbia has always been one of the world’s best teams.
One of the team’s most experienced players, Nikola Kovacevic, tells cev.lu that he is more excited and more confident that they will get better results this 2014 season because his oung teamamtes have matured.
“The core of the team has not changed. However, our young players are a lot more experienced now because they have played quality matches with their clubs this season. This means we can rely 100% on them as well. For this reason I think we can improve on our result from last year. We are in a very strong Pool, so we have a tough challenge ahead. But we are the bronze medalists from the last European Championship and so we are not afraid of anyone. I hope that many fans will come to support us in our home matches and that we will not disappoint them.”
This club season alone, we’ve seen how much maturity Aleksandar Atanasijevic has gained playing in the Italian League and also his teammate Nemanja Petric who both led their team in the Championship Round. Althought they lost the crown to Zaytsev and Macerata, these 2 Serbians have definitely improved a lot and will for sure help their National Team achieve better results.
Serbia will compete in 2 major FIVB tourneys this year, the World League and World Championship.
