This is just heartbreaking.
To make the long story short, the Cuban Volleyball Federation has reportedly banned Melissa Vargas from playing volleyball for 4 years as a form of disciplinary action. We’ve been informed that her parents DID NOT like how she was treated at a volleyball school Melissa was a part of.
The parents filed a lawsuit against the Cuban Federation but in return they were slapped with their daughter’s suspension for FOUR YEARS. Melissa can no longer play for the national team nor play outside Cuba for the next 4 years.
The 18 year old previously played for VK Prostějov in Czech Republic during the 2015-2016 but returned to Cuba after the season due to injury.
She spent a lot of time to fully recover but now her career is doomed.
We’ve always supported Cuban volleyball players but we don’t have any LOVE for their Federation who has not changed its ways handling their athletes.
