A lot of Volleywood stars featuring Olympic Champions and World Champions are in Manila right now for the 2016 FIVB Club World Championship which starts on October 18th until 23rd.

Before Zhu Ting, Tatiana Kosheleva, Jordan Larson, Thaisa Menezes and Milena Rasic, volleyball fans in the Philippines fell in love first with the Brazilian spiker Leila Barros. Leila was no doubt a crowd favorite and received numerous marriage proposals during her stay. Someone even made a banner saying “Leila For President!”.

Leila returned to Manila the year after for the 2000 FIVB Grand Prix and made her last stop in the country during the 2004 Grand Prix.

Every visit, more and more fans fell in love with her that’s why up to this day she is still one of the most famous volleyball players in the hearts of Pinoy fans.

WHERE IS LEILA NOW?

Leila is still a popular sports personality in Brazil. She occasionally appears on TV or serve as a commentator for volleyball events.

Uo to this day, she and her husband, Emanuel Rego (retired beach player), remain as one of the most famous volleyball couples.
