Ivan Miljkovic & Team Reunite!

The injured Sasha Starovic & Bojan Janic are going to be missed!

The reigning Kings of Europe have returned to Belgrade from their respective professional club teams to prepare for the upcoming 2011 FIVB World Cup which be held in Japan from November 20th – December 4th. Coach Kolakovic has officially released his roster which is pretty much the same group who defeated Italy who won the European Championship a couple of months ago & will will be trimmed down to 14. The only major major difference is the absence of opposite hitter Starovic.

Setters: Petkovic, Jovovic
Opposite Hitters: Miljkovic, Atanasijevic
Libero: Rosic, Vujic
Middles: Stankovic, Podrascanin, Rasic, Petrovic
Outside Hitters: Kovacevic, Nikic, Terzic, Uros Kovacevic, Vemic

Luckily, we found these pics of our Sebian BBs together again.

Glad to see them back together! We wish Serbia the best at the World Cup!

”Well, we had more time to rest than the girls. Girls finished European after us and flew to Japan for World Cup before us. We finished one cycle successfully. The gold is certainly huge success. There’s been articles in the papers that we deserved it with our fighting spirit and dedication. That ended a month ago and now we have new competition in front of us. Not only challenge to win new medals, but to take a step further,(to qualify) for Olympics. Everybody is talking about the qualification, 3 teams are going. But it’s a long tournament and injuries are, unfortunately, possible, like it had happened to women’s team. We have 14 to 15 days to play with the best teams in the world, where every match is like the finals. We are going to play against Brazil, Russia, Italy, USA, Cuba, so schedule is difficult. We’ll see how we’re going to play, I’ve heard some players are injured. I wish Sasa Starovic fast recovery, and that he can back to the team to help us, if not this year, than next. We are back together, we’re going to be in Belgrade for 10 days, try to get back in the rhythm. I can’t predict what will happen, because I was wrong about European Championship. But what I can say is that the schedule will demand rotation of all 12 players. We’re gonna need all the help from those players who didn’t have a chance to play on European. Personally, I’ve ”deleted” gold medal, and from this moment I’m only interested in new tournament, new obligation, new cycle in what, me and my teammates are gonna try to do all we can to reach the new goal-qualify for Olympics, which is a dream of some of the players. But right now, it’s too early to talk about it.”
