This is so sadddddddddd!
On day 1 of the ongoing Grand Prix which was last Friday, this happened to Lucia…
Watch This:
The weird landing resulted to an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) tear in her right knee and she will have surgery tomorrow. The procedure will be conducted by the same doctor who has treated famous Italian player Francesco Totti.
A source tells Volleywood:
“The entire Italian team is still in shocked about this incident. Knowing that Lucia will miss the 2014 World Champs to be held in Italy, it’s a huge blow for the team and for the entire federation.
Lucia is the team’s best player at the moment and for her to be sidelined due to this injury brings consequences to the team’s future.”
The source also adds that Coach Bonitta initially felt the pressure but he is now handling the situation well.
“Coach might have lost his most valuable player but he is surrounded with 2 of Italy’s most experienced players, Del Core and Piccinini. They have assured Bonitta that they will do all they can to keep the team together.”
Lucia’s sister Caterina and teammate Valentina Arrighetti have posted these on their IG:
Pochi possono capire la tristezza, e il dispiacere che provo in questo momento! Sei una persona speciale, forte e so che non mollerai neanche davanti a questo.. Ti voglio bene <3
Amica mia… Torna in campo presto, più forte di prima, anche se faccio fatica ad immaginarti ancora più forte. Alla pallavolo manchi già troppo… E anche a me. <3
On behalf of your fans from all over the world, have a speedy recovery Lucia!
