In an interview with sportbox.ru, Spiri says that he WILL NEVER CHANGE and that people know how Polish Fans acted throughout the tourney.
“Everybody knows how Polish fans behaved during the World Championship.
I won’t say anything more on this topic. Punished for my gesture? I just showed my emotions and that’s all. I won’t prove anything to anyone. I am suspended for 2 matches. No big deal. I have dealt with worst situations.
I think the punishment is absurd but it’s nothing, I will survive somehow.”
When asked if he’d do the same “celebration” again, Spiri’s reply is:
“I don’t intend to change or fix anything.”
The Russian Volleyball Federation will NOT appeal the decision.
