Lyuba has a very valid reason.

“Sokolova has recently returned from club duties. On Monday (September 8th), she had to give me a definite answer for the World Championship. We were hopeful that she would answer positively but that didn’t happen.
She believes that her current shape is not enough to help the team at the World Championship.
We respect decision and we understand that she got injured at the end of last season and that she was treated for a long time. We wish her a speedy recovery. The door of the national team is always open for Sokolova.”
Sokolova has always been Russia’s best all around player. It’s really sad that she won’t be in Italy for the tournament which starts later this month.
The BIG question now is: Can GAMOVA do it alone? Can she carry the Russian Team to win their 3rd World Championship Crown? Can Gamova lead Russia without the presence of the legendary Sokolova?
