In case you didn’t know, Puerto Rico qualified for Rio after winning the 2016 Olympic Qualification Tourney they hosted against Kenya, Colombia and Algeria.
After making history, veteran and one of the team’s biggest stars, Aury Cruz, could not hide her excitement.
“It is a big achievement. After playing in foreign leagues for the past eleven years I have had the chance to play alongside many Olympians and I felt that my career was incomplete.”
Cruz will retire from the National Team after the Olympics.
Good luck ladies!
Puerto Rico is in Pool B aka “Pool Of Death” with USA, China, The Netherlands, Serbia and Italy. Only the top 4 teams advance to the next round.
