Both teams made history yesterday at the classification match of the 2018 Montreux Volley Masters tournament.
After defeating Switzerland, Cameroon becomes the FIRST African nation to win a match in the tournament. They may now also hold the volleyball record as THE only team in the world who never allowed their opponent to score more than 1 pt in a 5th set match.
As for hosts Switzerland, they now hold the record as the least scoring team in a tiebreak at an internationally acclaimed tournament.
Final Score: Cameroon 3-2 Switzerland (18-25, 25-20, 11-25, 28-26, 15-1)
Nevertheless, the crowd was treated with a match that lasted almost 2 hours.

Per Volley Masters: With all the momentum, Cameroon pushed to complete the comeback, racing into a 9-1 lead, the bright Fotso Mogoung and Aboa scoring before a big block from Abdoulkarim Fawziya. Fotso Mogung came up with a big block of her own to deny Storck for 11-1 as the hosts wilted under pressure, a smash from the blue from Cameroon taking the score to 12-1 before they went within one of victory when two attempted spikes flew out of play. Aboa serving for victory, the Swiss made the decisive reception error, sparking celebrations from the Cameroon bench as they sealed the first win at the Montreux Masters for an African nation, with a stunning 15-1 tie-break win (3:2).
In case you didn’t know, Russia will play against Italy in the gold medal match. Tourney favorites Brazil and Turkey will play for the bronze.
China, with its B team, finished 5th. Poland, who beat Brazil during the pool play round, ended their 2018 season in 6th place. Cameroon 7th and Switzerland 8th.
