Just rude and painful but I guess in the world of professional beach volleyball decisions can be made any time of day and any day of the year.
German beach volleyball player Chantal Laboureur is now looking for a new partner after her former teammate of 5 years, Julia Sude, decided to leave her for another partner. Sude could not wait to deliver the heartbreaking news to Labourer that she told her about it on her BIRTHDAY!
Ouch!
In an article released by this beach volleyball site a couple of days ago, Chantal is obviously very surprised with the Julia’s decision but she is not giving on her dreams to make it to the 2020 Olympics.
“Julia told me a few days ago their decision and I cannot really understand the decision to split. In my opinion, we had great potential to achieve joint top results at this year’s World Championships and the 2020 Olympics. It all came very suddenly. I’ll think hard about how to move on. Anyone who knows me knows I’m a fighter, and I will not just give up on the dream of the Olympics.”
In case you didn’t know, there’s a lot of changes among the German teams since the shocking retirement of Olympic champion Kira Walkenhorst a few days ago. Kira’s Olympic teammate Laura Ludwig will now partner with former indoor player Margareta Kozuch.
Kozuch’s former partner Karla Borger is now the new partner of Julia Sude.
This leaves Chantal Laboureur in search of a new partner.
Well, we hope she finds one very soon knowing that the Olympic Qualification in Beach Volleyball has already started.
